Above my racks in the studio I have some old light bar lamps that have the sockets wired up in series. This is to achieve two aims: a nice mild illumination that allows me to see while not being bright and extended useful service life of the incandescent bulbs.

At least, extended (my intent was indefinite) life span was part of the idea. Turns out having a bunch of bulbs overhanging the rack provides temptation to hang cables. Mind you, light bulbs are not load bearing. This one remained illuminated for about 10 seconds after the glass fell away. I was about to grab the camera when it flared out into what you see here.

No more using conveniently placed lightbulbs as cable hangers for me! Happy Friday.

In other news, I'll be gigging the reverb unit tomorrow, so I expect I should have some "I'm finished!" content soon.

Spent more time in organizing the studio space over the weekend than in working on stuff. Pretty sure the every other day post cycle is going to fall apart.. will continue with a more natural schedule.

Replaced all the lamps in the AC-8. Found the octal case I plan on using for the T4 build. Discovered the brakes need a going over in the fastback.

A bit thin on content today, getting a rolling start on the week.

ILLUMINATION!

I've got a soft spot for metal industrial looking lamps, this has fostered the illusion (amidst certain gift givers) that I like ugly lamps; and while I certainly won't dispute that their take on ugly is remarkably interesting the entire thing was founded on the fact that I get rabidly happy when I find some beat to shit industrial looking lamp. Like these:


While true, these are anything but beat to shit you can spot the rust. They've been doing what they do for a long while, and they do it really well. So now my bench is substantially brighter, now to find a better home for the 230 pounds of power supply that are in my way:
